AccessOne is closed today. We commemorate Juneteenth, a pivotal moment in American history that marks the end of slavery. In 1865, the last remaining slaves in Galveston, Texas were informed they had been emancipated by President Lincoln -- two full years after the Emancipation Proclamation. As we reflect on this day, we acknowledge the work that still needs to be done in the fight for racial justice. Equity, inclusion, and diversity are strongly held values here at AccessOne, both for the patients in need of our services and the employees who work tirelessly to make healthcare affordable for all. Join us in honoring and celebrating Juneteenth and committing to a future of equality for all. #Juneteenth

The perfect Saturday errands tote can be yours. By my calculations, it can hold up to 15 children’s library books. And don’t even get me started on how much this bag crushes grocery runs. Available exclusively to 100 people at #hfmaannual who stop by booth #608. If you’re going to Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) conference, stop by and grab one. You won’t be sorry. Especially with all the compliments you’ll get.

𝐂𝐅𝐏𝐁 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 This is not entirely unexpected news and RCM teams should operate under the assumption that the proposed rule will eventually be enforced. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬: The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) proposed a rule that would remove all medical bills from most credit reports and prevent debt collectors from using the credit reporting system to coerce people to pay. The proposal would stop credit reporting companies from sharing medical debts with lenders and prohibit lenders from making lending decisions based on medical information. Since Spring of 2022, this already happens for medical bills under $500 but the proposed rule would be for all balances. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬: For RCM teams already struggling to collect patient balances, this is going to remove a big tool in order to so. If aged outstanding patient balances can't effectively be sold off as bad debt it's going to force RCM teams to figure out new strategies that make paying balances easier and more willingly. Medical balances aren't a top priority for patients to begin with and this just makes them even less of a priority. Here's the link to the full story: https://lnkd.in/gJdP9aw7
