We’re kicking off August with a science lesson🔬🧬Today, we’re diving deeper into HCP affinity. As an adjective, affinity describes a type of chromatography, a chemistry technique for separating components of a mixture. Let’s break this down further into 3 parts: separation, linkage, and retention. 1️⃣ Separation: HCP affinity is frequently assessed in aggregate at the channel level (SMS, email, social, etc.) when in reality HCP affinity should be separately assessed by stage: awareness, acceptance, or adoption. 2️⃣ Linkage: To be actionable, affinity assessment must link different criteria and expand to include what can be termed as “social determinants of healthcare professional” – HCP age group, gender, etc. Linkages must be assessed across different characteristics and criteria to understand what may drive a ligand or HCP’s “affinity.” 3️⃣ Retention: To be effective, affinity data should go beyond capturing exposure to also include retention. Content is retained by an HCP if it is specific and personalized – this will involve separation by customer journey and leveraging linkages across HCP characteristics.
