To maximize your experience in a data visualization internship, it's essential to set clear goals from the outset, outlining what you aim to achieve and learn during your time. When joining a new team, focus on building bridges with your manager and teammates to understand what will make you succeed in this team. Make sure to set up clear expectations on what will make you hit the mark or exceed it during your internship. Focus on what the team is facing not only on what you can do best. Reaching success by helping your team overcome their pain points will make your work easily tangible and visible.

Seek feedback from stakeholders and team leaders, depending on- 1. The analysis presented in the visualization 2. Type of visualization (How granular they'd like to view the data) 3. Design (Colors and text format)

Before you begin using Data Viz, speak with your guide/boss to determine what problem you will be solving. Who is the target audience, and how will it benefit them? Take permission to meet with stakeholders in order to identify their pain/issues and ensure that they are aligned with your project objectives.

You should always be open to feedbacks on how you can improve your data visualization skills. Always take the feedback as constructive and be respectful for the same. Feedback will help you identify your strengths and your weaknesses, and help you to improve.

For interns starting their journey in data, I recommend experimenting extensively with the data. Analyze it from various angles by linking it with different attributes and conducting "what if" analyses. Prioritize simple data reasoning or statistics over tools or warehousing concepts. In my personal opinion. 1. Ask questions about the company themes, don't, and colors. Don't just assume 2. Minimize your graph in your Viz. 3. Set the goal for yourself 4. Be very open to learning from your colleagues. 5. Make use of Tooltips. It will help to give more summary of your Viz. 6. Lastly, give your best 👍

When you are in an internship, try experimenting and learn new things. Explore different data sources available in the marketplace. Read and learn from books or online. Play with the data visualizations- such as pie, donut, maps, etc. This will help you in expanding your knowledge in data visualization.

Connect with data and business intelligence professionals to determine if data exists, where it exists, and whether it is necessary to gather it,  through questioner. Then get started, making sure you have the correct data set, fields, and so on.

Maximizing an internship in data visualization starts with curiosity: dive into tasks and the "whys" behind them. Keeping a learning log helps solidify knowledge and reflect on progress. If you don't have access to enterprise-level technologies such as Tableau or PowerBI, you can start with Python. Identify the story, pattern, and insights in your data set. When developing any dashboards or stories, remember to apply design principles. Present findings/insights to your guide and stakeholder and receive comments & reflect back.

Building your portfolio or a website is a best way to showcase your work. A portfolio is basically a collection of your projects that demonstrates your skills. Having a portfolio ensure your skills are utilized in projects that others can see and review anytime. You can create a portfolio and share your work in online platforms, such as Linkedin or Twitter, to connect with other professionals.

I have an introverted nature, I seem open and extraverted but I have (had) difficulties with connecting to people on netwerk events. Let’s be honest here, most ‘up-level’ employees are looking for peers or upper levels to connect. So they’re not sitting around to wait for that intern to come and chat. This entire ordeal can be daunting if you’re like me. So what to do? I had the best advice I wish I had earlier. The only thing you need to do is try and have a fun conversation. If you speak with someone don’t try to impress them or push your own agenda. Ask what they are working on. Be interested and if you get these questions reciprocated; awesome. If not; cool. In the end people won’t remember the conversation. But how they felt. Have fun.

1)Ask questions about anything you're unsure of or don't know if it's relevant. 2)If you are stuck, don't be afraid to ask the seniors for help. You should also try out other approaches. 3)Acquire knowledge from your errors.Never undervalue the advice given by superiors or coworkers.

Speak with you guide/boss understand what problem you are going to solve before even starting Data Viz. Who is the audience, how it is going to help them etc. Take a permission to speak with stakeholders understand their pain points & aligned with your project objective. Connect with Data and BI folks understand if data exist, identify where it is exist, or if it is required to collect like using questioner etc. Then start working making sure you have right data set, with right fields etc. You can

Networking plays a major role in finding mentors- people who can guide you, collaborators and referrals. You can network with people who are with you at your internship, colleagues, clients or supervisors. Networking can help you build relationships and increase your confidence in data visualization field.

i would highly recommend seeing if one or more team members are willing to meet on a weekly basis and go over your work with you or have learning sessions with them. if you are able to get more than one, schedule them on different days or alternate weeks. the more frequent, the more opportunities you have to learn. you, as the intern, will need to initiate this as most places do not offer these types of sessions by default. this also shows that you have initiative and eagerness to learn and share ideas.
