You’re creating a website for a client. How can you make it stand out from the competition?

As with any user platform, start by identifying the users biggest frustration points with current solutions. This information will help prioritize where resources are spent and set priorities/action items...especially in situations where business goals and user needs appear to conflict.

Do some research. It's hard to stand out when you don't know what everyone else is doing. Skip the corporate language - you're likely dealing with a small business - let their humanness shine through! People enjoy that. Use real photos if possible - stock photos are generally a yawn.

One of the problems I have faced is clients asking me to recreate an already existing website for them. The fact is that every website you find on the internet was created to solve unique problems and does not suit every business even if it's in the same niche. Some clients will say "Can you give me a great website?" Well, the answer is determined if I actually understand what you mean by "great website". For this you can teach the client to rebrand if their brand colors are not aligned to the industry they are in . An example could be a brand talking about the ocean and water , but they main brand color is red or yellow ! There is no harmony , blue and white will be a better choice !
