Typically I buy a vehicle based on the manufacturers reputation, and personal references with friends and colleagues that own vehicles. I have gone outside of those scopes based on data I’ve seen from 3rd parties, and the manufacturer itself backing there product - that might be by an extended warranty, or a fiscal incentive to lure people back in to give them a chance. Well I can tell you, I have purchased a Twin turbo V8 BMW out of sheer want, knowing they have had problems but the manufacturer reassured me by providing a free extended warranty on said drivetrain and that was the most reliable vehicle I’ve ever owned and I’ll buy another one. Bought a ford truck, and they sell so many that they have mixed reviews. Well I won’t ever again.

I have found quality control to be a seriously crucial factor in the manufacturing industry because it is what will determine the continuity of the relationship between the manufacturer and the end user. As a technician in a Transport and Logistics company component quality is the most discussed issue between the workshop and procurement department. Every breakdown caused due to a component with compromised quality affects the income of the company in a sense that it extends the time of delivery for that particular vehicle which could risk losing a potential client. Finally the downtime of the workshop is highly affected because the focus channelled on that vehicle could have been used on other productive things.
