This is really critical - many GPs are vaguely annoyed communicating with LPs, make it reactive, and then have LPs that regularly ping them for information. Proactive transparency, on a predictable cadence, and then knowing that there are always going to be a handful of LPs that want more access is key. This is part of what we do and we wouldn't be anywhere without the LPs. Also, we are very conscientious about reporting and marks - it's all too rampant in VC to leave marks higher than they might defensibly be. Very few folks get in trouble for this, but it's not a good practice and building trust with the LPs is a good byproduct of honest reporting.
