Failure is not a dirty word-it means “lack of success”. It means that having tried, you are one step closer to success because you know what didn’t work. As long as you have a growth mindset, failure is another word for learning. With each one, you find out the secret to success. When it comes to job searching, it would be helpful if you were given feedback since that is a roadmap for your next interview. Unfortunately, not everyone gives that out, so you need to learn from your own mistakes on what to do better. I prefer to keep “failing up” so each try is getting you closer to your final destination🌴

An agency recruiter, who has everything to gain from you succeeding, will have better advice than an HR person who may want to avoid being truthful for fear of a lawsuit. 🙄

You might be a perfect match on paper and not get the job. Why? You weren’t a fit. Why weren’t you a fit? Only the person who passed on hiring you knows why. Does that mean you were a failure? Nope! It could even mean that the person didn’t want to hire you and set you up for failure. NOT EVERY COMPANY -JOB-MANAGER is good. If you were passed over it could be that the person knows you will not be happy or even liked you so much they couldn’t sleep at night knowing they did that to you. Sometimes a no is the greatest gift you will get. If you take each rejection personally then you will create an unhealthy self opinion. Like dating-if someone needs to control others, they won’t date someone who they can’t control-same for jobs.

In my 10 year career as an Employment Specialist, I have worked with early release ex convicts & people through rehabilitation (Mental health, addiction, criminal acts & other episodes in their lives) that had to make a full turn to restart their lives. They want to reenter the workforce. No one failed, they created challenges that would need a new strategy. Many had to face a little humility in starting at lower skill positions to show their employment value. Resilience is not learned, it is our ability to make the right decision in our lives from a point of strength, not weakness. Accepting the circumstances & guidance in maneuvering to that important step of feeling that you are back and ready to go. Share the care & love with supports
