We need to encourage the youngsters and budding aerospace engineers that failure is synonymous to learning. See here's how it goes: you fail, you realise, you analyze, you implement. By doing this you will either have fixed the problem or learnt about multiple approaches that do not work. It sure is disheartening at times, since the aerospace sector is a very fast moving industry. But every failure has led to a new lesson or brilliant innovations. So, hold your head high, for this failure is going to teach you something.

Analysing where you went wrong is very important before you move onto the next iteration. Thoroughly analyze where you went wrong. Take help. Ask your seniors, professors, or anyone with a good grasp on the subject. A lot of times, there could be errors in CFD simulations (it's a huge possibility hence it is sometimes dubbed as Confusing Fluid Dynamics), calculation or even during CAD modelling. Something that has helped me a lot is recording/documenting my work. For example, anytime I'm meshing or setting up simulations, I screen-record the entire process. Hence, when there are errors, I can refer to this recording and thoroughly analyze where I went wrong. Hence record/document your work, keep a track of your calculations for reference.

This is my #1 concern for "COVID engineers" working from home. They are unable to learn from the old engineer in the next desk meeting under his/her breath about some problem. I learned from many and am now one of them. Wouldn't be the same without the wisdom I learned from them.

Then repeat the cycle again, each time refining the design further. This approach helps in identifying and solving potential errors in development phase, hence, gradually improving the design to achieve optimal performance. Eg: The development of SpaceX's Starship serves as a prime example of iterative design in action.
