It's always better to choose the supplier who is well known of the industry. Apart from this Cost , Quality and Time are three things wherein a buyer can never compromise.

This is very important to integrate the supply line with the inputs of internal team as this could be the foundation for the achievement of organisation objectives . This is not so simple as the market conditions and the sales both are unpredictable and to keep supply in accordance with the demand is a big task. One of my customers did a great thing when they got a project on a short notice a control office was created in which supplier was also part of the Project team and it helped in overcoming the challenges and ensuring a great teamwork and achievement of the project.
Once your goals are set and needs assessed, it's time to research potential suppliers. Utilize online databases, industry forums, and trade publications to compile a list of candidates. I think there are two dimensions to it. What is the organisation objective in terms of creating new supplier. The second dimension is whether research is only online or market research or a study on the competitor resources Many times the organisation are not ready to disrupt and challenge the ongoing module as they feel more confident in existing structure i feel it is deterrent to the growth and innovation and this is a key point which can impact your market share for Future. In the research perspective it is important to keep all gates open to receive the inputs and be receptive of the new inputs new discoveries and this helps in the discovery of new suppliers.
After researching potential suppliers, evaluate them against your predefined goals and needs. Develop a scoring system or a checklist that allows your team to objectively compare each option. This structured approach ensures that personal biases do not cloud judgment and that every supplier is assessed fairly. It also enables your team to have productive discussions about each supplier's pros and cons, leading to a consensus-driven decision.

One thing I found helpful is regularly meeting up the supplier. Supplier are the go to market information which can be your predictor for the ground situation. This could be an insight on the gap of demand and supply,this could be innovative practices,this could be the challenges in Supply which can be synced with the forecasting. I have seen this happening in many of my Locations in which the supplier became the core strength due to constant communication and meeting and exchanging and giving support to build up as per the business plans I could reduce many penalties due to a great understanding of the supply with a particular customer in Telecom domain.
