It is a logical behaviour based way to deconstruct your achievements or projects so you can clearly communicate effectively in your interview. By preparing using this model you will certainly give yourself an advantage. When I train interviewers we encourage the panel to use the STAR method to question past experiences; the ethos around past behaviour is an indicator for future. If you are prepared for this line of questioning you should also anticipate deeper dive questioning on each category. For example, (Result) what was the result? How did that make you feel? What would you do differently next time? What learnings did you take away?….
