With journalists, let them know you (or your execs or clients) are available to provide quick comments when they are working on stories. When they reach out, get back to them quickly even if just to say you can’t help with this one. On average i’ve found the people i’ve been helpful to like this are most responsive to my pitches and other outreach - of course they won’t always write stories just because i’m helpful, but at minimum they get back to me and give helpful feedback.
