Harmonizing strategic goals starts with alignment across all levels of the organization. Desde mi experiencia profesional, es necesario hacer una investigación previa del Core Business y de los Stakeholders del potencial inversionista, para empezar a construir una estrategia que se alinee con los objetivos y atienda los intereses estratégicos de cada inversionista. Posteriormente, tener una conversación constante y fluida para terminar de aterrizar los resultados o metas a los que vamos a llegar y tener un proceso de reportabilidad o rendición de cuentas que visibilice el impacto positivo a los objetivos estratégicos que propusimos.

Investors are usually very transparent with their interests, but you should still probe and get input. I’ve been associated with investors who want to be CEO for a day (at the board meeting) telling you what you should do. I’ve also had the privilege of having investors who ask what their quota should be to achieve our mutual interests. Goes without saying which relationship flourished. If your investor doesn’t ask, don’t be afraid to give them a quota. Could be new business, strategic partners or even people that can help achieve the mutual goals.
