There’s a good chance that people will be offended when you offer them that. Especially if you try to organize a training session on something as simple as messengers or virtual meeting tools everyone knows (or feels like they know) how to use. Your team members will think that you consider them stupid, and that’s the last thing you want. I prefer to not call those training sessions at all. Something along the line of ‘team building’ or ‘experience exchange’ sounds much better. Arrange the activities to be centered around different tech skills. I sometimes go with competitions or group activities to make things more interesting to everyone. In the end, people are learning what they should and don’t feel bad for their ignorance.

There is such a thing as too much. Believe me that your team members would prefer to have one, maximum two tools for communication. You might talk with everyone and choose the tools that are the most comfortable, but stop at one or two for all remote team members (for your private communication too) even if someone finds them uncomfortable to use. The reason is simple: you need to take care of yourself here too. Communicating with your remote team members using the tools they prefer will leave you with dozens of different chats, groups or messengers that you’ll have to check every time. You have better things to spend your working hours on, I’m sure.
