Negative feedback can have both positive & negative impacts, usually depending on the mindset of an individual. Criticism is a great way to understand where you lack and where the scope of improvement is. In a way an external push for you to improve on certain aspects. Hi, Being a market researcher, I always believe in the feedback mechanism, either in receiving or giving. Feedback is vital for growth and development. I always welcome and grateful to receive it. It acts as a learning tool else one would not know if what you are doing or saying is of any value or not. But before I take action on the feedback, I first check if it's an authentic, relevant source, sent through an appropriate medium, the timing of the input, whether its asked for or unsolicited, and whether the action plan would impact me to wider members and how I can reflect from it. Timing and feasibility are also important. But to summarise, feedback is valuable and I would like to receive it regularly, whether negative or positive.

There are PLENTY of material on the web where one can learn, often for free, many technical aspects (as well as soft skills) that might have been raised as improvement areas. If one has the will, we have at our disposal a vast array of ways in which we can better ourselves. Setting aside time in alignment with the immediate line manager will also be seen as a serious / dedicated effort to become better, which is always appreciated.
