By associating this gesture with those peak moments of creativity, I can bring back that same level of inspiration whenever I need it. Anchoring Technique: Recall Peak States: Remember times of deep curiosity or creativity. Create an Anchor: Link a physical touch or sound with these states, such as pressing fingers. It could be exploring a new hobby, traveling to an unfamiliar place, or simply changing your daily path, these novel experiences can stimulate your mind and broaden your perspective. Embracing the unknown fuels creativity, making us more adaptable in the face of change. By weaving mindfulness into our pursuit of new challenges, we unlock a richer, more fulfilling life.

This is what I usually do : 1) Make a habit of asking "why" and "what if" about things that interest you. This helps you understand better and come up with new ideas. 2) When something puzzles you, take it as a chance to learn more. Dive into the details and find out as much as you can. 3) Keep questioning everything around you. This keeps your curiosity alive and fuels your creativity in your career.

It allows me to connect the dots between different experiences and ideas, fostering continuous growth and creativity. Reflection helps you stay mindful of your journey and appreciate the little discoveries along the way.

These moments help us understand our motivations, recognize patterns, and identify areas for improvement. This can also unearth certain traits we never knew we had. Reflecting daily creates self-awareness, enabling us to know an unknown part of us, and respond thoughtfully to challenges.

Connecting with others is what can keep us curious and creative. Engaging with people within your field or from different disciplines opens up a world of fresh ideas and diverse perspectives. By being part of online or offline communities, participating in dialogues, attending workshops, and joining creative communities, you can broaden your horizons. These interactions push you to think differently, uncover new interests, and appreciate varied viewpoints.

I’ve found that conversations with others often spark new ideas and insights that I wouldn’t have come up with on my own. Personally, keeping a wonder journal has been incredibly rewarding. It serves as a repository of inspiration that I can revisit whenever I need a creative boost. Over time, it becomes a treasure trove of ideas and reflections that fuel your creativity and keep your sense of wonder alive.

One thing I've found useful is to go beyond the discipline I am in. For example, I am a psychology student, but I regularly read books, articles, blogs and other content from different disciplines such as religion, philosophy, history, etc. Another strategy would be to connect concepts from my discipline with other disciplines. By doing so, I am building on my creative muscle. As a result of such practices, I have seen that I come up with new associations between concepts that people would usually not think of. And that is the ultimate example of creativity for me.

Make time for play—for yourself! Remember how you used to be so imaginative, playful, and—honestly—quite fearless when you were younger? Reconnect with that side or yourself by scheduling regular activities that bring out your inner child. It could be playing sports or games, playing with kids (and not supervising them!), engaging in arts and crafts—whatever you do, do it with unbridled joy! I have a yoga mat that I call my “magic carpet”, and a box of markers, journals, etc. that I bring out every so often. My family knows that when I’m on my magic carpet and I’m doodling, journaling, dreamboarding, coloring, I’m in my own sacred, creative space and am not to be disturbed. I’d love to see what you try and discover for yourself.

For Creativity to blossom one needs mind space, mindfulness practices help with many of the steps shared above. Observing simple regular things and places around, especially nature elements, engaging with senses would help find new aspects and then boost curiosity some time kept may be weekly or at a frequency that works for doing "NOTHING" is crucial, something new can only emerge on an empty canvas

Another way to cultivate curiosity and wonder in a creative career is to challenge your own thought patterns/ creative instincts. - Try to do things differently. Try to stray away from your usual approach to the same scenario. - for example if you lean into certain color schemes for your projects, try a contrasting scheme or introduce different colors, mix n match. Use different mediums and textures. - In the field of writing, you can try different writing styles. Look at subject from a third person perspective and see what you find. - Experiment, be open to fresh ideas, be unafraid of change and any feedback that you may receive since people expect a certain kind of work from you. Anything different may take time for acceptance!
