You can convey readiness for more responsibilities by first separating the ones that could be considered as a part of your job (even though they aren't) & those clearly outside your job description. Focus on latter. It ensures intent is made clear - growth + promotion. A common mistake is to take on peripheral tasks/roles that should be performed by a subordinate/line manager. It tempts management to stop growing the support team (this guy is doing it all). The line manager may feel threatened/kick up his feet to relax (this guy is doing it all). The correct way - if you are in marketing, help out in sales. This is scaling UP. Not vice versa, that's scaling DOWN. If in IT, help out in training dept. Your time is an asset, use it wisely.
