No. Interviewers will expect you to be strong in your chosen field & will know they need to train you to fill in the gaps. In the same manner no-one would expect an experienced Metallurgist to be fluent in Control Systems. Know the fundamentals for the specific role you’re applying for (in theory & practice) and expect technical questions. Read about and show interest in broader topics, but don’t try to be an expert.

A couple things to keep in mind: 1 - Develop, practice and explain how you simplify technical issues for non-technical folks, or those who need the highly abridged version. Analogies have worked for me. 2- Pay close attention when there are disagreements within your team, or with a related team. I have found that the root cause can be different definitions of the same terms. I insist on making the two sides define terms for a common understanding. 3 - Get everyone focused on the solution rather than lamenting how the situation came about.
