However, they often know and talk with a neighborhood leader who has their back. While a transportation planner won’t know who those leaders are, the local librarian or public health outreach worker would know. ask for the help of these who already work in these communities.

Explain to policy makers that a project designed to benefit the maximum number of people, requires eliciting perspectives of all demographic groups that could be affected by the project, as well as organizations that work with these families & individuals. You don’t know what you don’t know unless you ask those who likely already know!
