Regular reviews with your key vendors are key. Also ensuring that you are having a productive review. How are the service levels, what is the latest roadmap. Having unproductive vendor reviews can be a red flag. There have been times when I have had to project manage a vendor because of this. They were too key to our business to fail.
Establish a clear conflict resolution process to handle disputes or performance issues with vendors. This process should be outlined in your contracts or SLAs and should provide a step-by-step approach to resolving conflicts fairly and transparently. Having a set procedure in place helps prevent small issues from escalating and ensures that all parties are aware of how disputes will be handled, thus maintaining a positive working relationship.
