Prior to opening a dialogue with a vendor that is having performance issues is to understand the motivation behind the issue. Is it behavior, training, understanding. A portion is having an open dialogue but also being there to facilitate correcting the issue once you have identified the motivation behind it. Listening and attention to detail helps mitigate issues with partners before it becomes too much of a problem.

Vendor Management is essential function for all the organisation. Organisation should establish vendor/ third party management program. This program must establish guidelines for onboarding and onboarding any new customer. Before doing a contract with any third party following best practices need to be followed - Extensive background check - Third party risk assessment - Establish guidelines for SLA/ SLR in the contract - Terms and conditions of breach and exit There are many more practices available but these were on top of my mind.
