Start by reading parallel texts.. read on the same topic in the source and technical language! You'll get to know the technical jargon much faster!

We may rewrite the total text by our available wording. No two languages have the same vocabulary range, therefore, it needs sometimes to paraphrase with our own language. In some rare cases we may invent a word by adding two components to create the concept we need.

Context is the key. Polysemy is quite common, both in English and Spanish (my source and target languages), so you need to be sure you are using the right term in the right context. Reading specialized literature in both languages makes you able to filter out which terms are widely used from those that are not. Collocations make the difference, too. Dominate collocations and your translations will skyrocket!

Everybody knows the great value of a good dictionary, but they can't replace your knowledge and experience in the subject matter. Leveraging the contents of a dictionary dramatically depends on what you know about that subject matter.

You need to bring yourself up to date as a professional. As a specialized and technical translator, I have attended several courses to continue with my professional upskilling with one thing in mind: being a trustworthy professional. It is important to be open to learning and acquainted with the latest trends in your industry. You should improve your translation skills to deliver the product the client expects from you. You learn from other colleagues too, so it is important to participate in summits, fairs and events organized by professional associations or translation companies. Nowadays, updating your technical and digital skills and training yourself to get the most out of them is also necessary.

Supplement your translation practice with diverse materials beyond typical texts. Consider challenging yourself with translating poetry, song lyrics, or other creative works. This will necessitate delving into nuanced lexical equivalents, fostering a deeper awareness of language-specific differences. Another thing to consider is doing more research about the concerned terms. Sometimes, you need to try to see some videos or pictures that help you understand more and get more insights to come up with a set of few words that can deliver the message or localize the concept.

To break the jargon, I mostly go to the trust sources such as my networks (friends, relatives) who might be closed to the subjects. Also, it's important to do verification, make sure the information we got "the words vs meaning" are connected to the context we actually work on. One tool which also helps me a lot is google search. We are in a new area of AI. Positively, we can find any information we wish on the net and we have to have a sense of how to pick the useful information.

So... the question can be understood in different ways and the way I understood it is that your LES only has a limited vocabulary and id not familiar with the technical jargon. What do you do then? First of all, if doing consecutive interpreting you can try and instead of translating only the jargon, you also add synonyms or even a short explanation. If your LES still does not understand you intervine and explain the situation to the client. In my case when I have an African French speaker whose mother tongue is a rare language or a person from the travelling comunity who speaks Romani Carpathian the client would like to continue and not ask for a different language.
