Maybe I'm a little "old school" but my thought is if it's worth writing down then it's worth spending some time on composition, grammar, and spelling. It's good to know how to translate technical jargon/terms to a language that even a non-technical person can understand. If my technical skills were a 9/10 but my communication skills were a 4/10, I'd still be rated a 4/10 overall. Communication is such an underrated skill along with active listening. Wherever possible, simplicity guarantees the greatest levels of user acceptance and interaction.
