How can air traffic control radar be more accurate? More instruction to the ATC members and more investment in equipment ys the key to keep the ATC up to date.

This wording is confusing. The primary radar sends radio waves and receives their reflection, bouncing off the aircraft's surface.

Not sure if multiparty is too much of a problem when a clear line of sight exists. Air traffic is usually a secondary surveillance system, so the data supplied by the transponder is probably the main source of any errors. Civil aircraft are not trying to avoid detection, so presumably they present a good target for primary surveillance radars. Is the accuracy of ATC radar even a problem?

The one thing that will keep RADAR in the “toolkit” will be that it isn’t dependent on anything other than the RADAR system itself and can be used beyond geopolitical borders. This alone will ensure that some sort of RADAR or RADAR-like tech will continue to be used, including when we move into space. Back in the day an FAA en-route radar was a self-contained little village with a staff of technicians keeping it on the air. Many of those old radars are still in operation although they have been upgraded over the years. While air traffic control almost exclusively relies on cooperative surveillance, there continues to be a role for noncooperative, i.e., primary surveillance radar. New radars must have a lower acquisition and O&M cost, consume less power, and be designed to intelligently integrate into a comprehensive surveillance network.

The EnRoute air traffic radar coverage is entirely based on radar mosaic. Typical radar coverage across the Midwest of the United States is down to 500-700feet above ground level. While the radar sites are spaced hundreds of miles apart.

Benefits as improve airport capacity, actions that impulse airlines to improve their schedule or improme slots (more flights/slots for an existing airline or new airlines).

It's not the radar...it's the guy sitting in the chair looking at it and PAYING ATTENTION! In my 35years + experience I have never witnessed any incident resulting in loss of separation that was caused by radar alignment or other radar associated presentations. In every case I've been a part of , it all boiled down to simply paying attention. Staffing and lack there of can also play a large part in loss of separation and deviations...but I'm still in the business and I have yet to see or hear about equipment being the cause of an error.

As Rich says, the human factor is the key that could trigger an incident. It is a very stressful job, where maximum attention is required. Here the supervisor plays a key role by detecting if an employee for any reason is not 100% focused.
