Computer Adaptive Tests are nothing new and hardly fit the paradigm of new AI possibilities. Imagine someone took the standards and all of the related information - domain, claim area, depth of knowledge, question type, example problems and built a platform that allowed you to use AI to build lesson plans and assessments by standard to view mastery of standards in real time. These things exist now. We have built them and others will too. You can also use AI to gather real time qualitative feedback as well to get more up to date insight from your students as they learn. The trick is this - can we give educators the tools to have more of the mundane work done so they can focus on the adaptive human element necessary for students to achieve?

Right now people seem to want AI and a Person. I imagine this is common in the transitional phases of new technology.

AI has to be trained - it has to learn first to be used for education, and the training is overwhelmingly done by adults, for adults. Children, particularly young children, have different needs. It is not okay for a child to get a response from an AI assistant or tutor that was scraped from the web and is wrong, particularly when the AI positions it as fact. Children won't have the skills to discern that the answer did not make sense and look for additional sources. Quality training for AI is incredibly important for all applications, but even more so for applications involving children.
