Every Monday I spend my first 20 minutes of my day reviewing my previous week work and looking to the week ahead. Using this full scope, I am able to plan in detail my priorities, needs, and work load for the week. I use this same information to give my boss on our weekly one-on-one to ensure. Then I ask if any other project or task is coming down the pipeline as well if another needs to be prioritized higher.

In human nature, we may want to get protective of our work but be open to feedback! This adaptation has opened doors for me to see other perspectives that can lead to better plans down the road. When receiving that feedback, ask questions too! Ask for elaboration, the history of the situation, or insights. You may learn something you would have never known otherwise outside of years of experience. Take this as an advantage from working under employees who have been with the company for a longer time. I've used this many times when training new employees to share the same information I know so that our department can be the strongest it can be in the work environment.
