Adaptability is an important element that every translation needs to have to remain competitive in the market. Therefore, learning is fundamental to gain competitive advantage in the market. The translation industry has changed drastically in the last 10 years and keeps changing in the current years. Consequentially, learning helps the translators to keep updated with the latest trends and developments within the industry.

Feedback is crucial for measuring the performance of the translator as well as for evaluating the success against objectives or goals. If there's no feedback in place, we can't know if our work achievements are enough or we're walking in the right or wrong direction. Seeking feedback and having it from our peers or clients would help to evaluate our performance and see if our objectives are achieved or not.

An up-to-date translator should have the technology means in place. Mastering technology is not considered an extra skill today, but a requirement. Please keep in mind that the translator work is not performed by means of word or excel applications, but by CAT tools. Therefore, technology is extremely important for every translator.

I definitively agree when the discussion comes to soft skills development. In the translation and particularly in the interpreting work, soft skills have a high impact on the work performance. In my point of view as an interpreter, I couldn't succeed as an interpreter if I'd focus only on my language skills, while ignoring soft skills such as empathy, cross-cultural communication and so on. Mastering these skills have helped me to overcome challenges and solve many problems arisen in cultural and communication context.

A specialized translator can be more trustful in front of clients and peers rather than a translator who does translation work in any kind of fields of areas. An expert translation should diversify the experience but also needs to identify and further develop his/her niche area of expertise in translation.
