In Germany we have dual studies: on the one hand side students study in universities and on the other hand side they are in trainee programs in bigger companies. By doing so the students go through different departments in the firms. Teams and interns can check out each others leadership qualities at an early stage. Our head coach from the Digital Leader Program Andre Ottlik was at IBM for example being able to lead first projects at this time already. If you can design such programs in your organisations or find a way to come up with something similar: try it!
