This is a bold statement coming from a PM: "In most organisations, the person who screams is heard the most". What I mean by this is every stakeholder has problems and he is trying to get the limited tech resources to work on his/her problems. Several of these stakeholders get the CXOs involved to make sure their voices are heard. To solve this I used to have a cross functional call every alternate Thursday where all the stakeholders come on the forum. This is where I used to present the roadmap along with the reasons for the priority. Post this the forum was opened for stakeholders to put out their case and sell why the issue was important to them. This iterative approached helped us to get everyone on the same page.

Make sure you always communicate clearly with the right information to all the stakeholders. If everything is urgent, then nothing is urgent. :) Prioritization is a critical skill that ensures you and your team focus on what’s most important, delivering the best product possible.
