And make sure everyone knows what's expected of them. That way, no one gets confused or steps on toes. If you fix the real cause of the problem, and everyone pitches in, your team will come out stronger than ever. You'll be unstoppable!

Let me share a story of mine, where I observed team conflicts during a project. In 2021, while working on a project at Larsen & Toubro Limited, I noticed a growing tension within the team. We experienced delays in meeting deadlines, leading to increased and unnecessary stress. This exercise was quite effective and also an eye-opener for the team. Team began to understand each other's perspectives better and we eventually noticed that everyone was striving towards the same goal, but with different strategies. This initial step of promoting dialogue paved the way for more transparent and constructive communication, and we could figure out a common strategy to follow without any internal conflicts or indifferences.

To move forward, it was crucial to set clear expectations, and the roles each person have to play for the team. We reviewed our project goals, defined roles more explicitly, divided the responsibilities based on work areas and skill set and established guidelines for communication and collaboration. This clarity helped reduce misunderstandings and aligned everyone with our shared objectives. By setting these expectations, the team knew what was required of them individually and collectively, which significantly reduced the tension.

I always believed that those closest to the problem, and had their hands dirty in field, often have the best solutions. So, I encouraged team members to propose and implement their ideas to improve the work and derive better productivities. I even created scenarios where they can directly answer to higher management's questions, this empowerment fostered a sense of ownership and responsibility within the team. One digital solution was creating a separate Whatsapp group dedicated only for innovations, communications and feedback. This eventually streamlined our processes and minimized miscommunication.

Collaboratively brainstorm solutions that address everyone's needs and concerns, leading to a mutually beneficial outcome. Seek guidance from a neutral mediator if needed, focus on repairing any harm caused, and learn from the experience to strengthen relationships and foster future growth.

As we navigated through resolving conflicts, it was necessary to maintain a work life balance among the team. And I always believed that, Appreciation and Recreations are the two driving factors which could help maintain team's well being and also stress levels. So, I used to conduct recreation activities, and some lunch outings at times, and also created scenarios where team members were appreciated and felicitated by higher management for their contributions. All these things helped to keep team's morale high and to stay motivated.
