What are other airlines doing and planning to do, what are the plans of the main plane manufacturers and how can they impact the airline's strategy and above all what are the overall travel trends, passenger behavior, willingness to pay,...low cost vs business travel, etc... having access to solid data from multiple sources will allow the strategy team to make the right analysis to underpin the future strategy. Don't fully trust the data you can acquire, also speak to the right people from the industry that understand what (doesn't) work. This is maybe the key lesson.
