The aim to become more sustainable often leads packaging designs in the direction of using less materials (light weighting) or smaller seams etc. This often directs packaging cost in the wrong direction with downstream damages as a result. A new design that benefits the packaging supplier, as it involves less intricacies in the manufacturing process, reduces lead times and stock holding, improves product efficiencies within your operation and is retail ready will be a more sustainable option than one where the old design was tweaked to use less grammage or microns.
