However, this can introduce errors, distortions, or losses in the data quality. Encryption transforms the data into an unreadable format and uses a key or password to decrypt it. This enhances security, privacy, and integrity but can also consume bandwidth, power, and processing. Multiplexing combines multiple data streams into one data stream by using frequency division, time division, or code division. This increases the capacity, diversity, and robustness of the data transmission but can also cause interference or noise among the data streams. Lastly, modulation modifies the characteristics of a carrier signal to encode the data which improves the efficiency, quality, and range of transmission but requires more bandwidth, power, and complexity.
