The unflinching decision to pursue a career in writing, as with any other vocation, is almost invariably backed by a passion that brooks no discouragement, disdain or disparagement whatsoever. It is all about passion. All else is ineffectual commentary.

Writing is an incredibly diverse career experience. You can make passive income as a novelist. You can make great income as a ghostwriter. I've done this personally. You can make income as a Copywriter. You can make income as a writing coach. You can make income as a book reviewer as well.

There are many different areas and types of writing. Each one has varying levels of monetizing abilities, and can be profitable based on how much you put yourself into it.

If a writer thinks about the limited earning from the early stage, then it works as a hindrance to establish him/her as a competent and well-respected writer. If they want to break the so-called myths of society, then they have to trust on this amazing power of themselves. Now, besides stories & novels, currently they are involved with various writing activities like - writing fictions & non-fiction, creating short stories for advertisements, creating scripts for movies and theater plays etc. Writers today have a multitude of platforms & mediums to explore, allowing for a broader impact and potentially higher income. These opportunities can empower writers to pursue their craft while also achieving financial stability and recognition.

Naysayers are going to naysay, I'd say experience a career in writing yourself before you make a judgement call. Ultimately, if we held ourselves back just because others said so, aren't we limiting ourselves for people who don't prioritise us and our needs?

The best way to become an amazing writer is to PRACTICE! It cannot be stated enough. I began writing in 2013 and I thought my first book was a winner. I was wrong. I spent 7 years continuing to write, learning how to describe and flesh out characters. After 7 years of practice I was good enough to publish. Now, after another 4 years, I find that I'm even better.

Just like any skill, writing gets better with practice. You can improve by practicing and learning. Go through different styles, and genres, read articles, and blogs, and keep trying things. Check courses, meet writers, attend workshops, take feedback, and find your own signature style. Practice and getting feedback is really important, so keep writing and don't be afraid to learn from others. You'll get better with time and effort!

As a writer, the first thing we need to focus on is how to develop ourselves as a skillful professional writer. To make our writing more efficient and attractive, we need to read a lot of books just as we need to practice writing. If necessary, take help from workshops or writing courses. Also, we should provide our draft to the people we believe so that they can go through the writing piece and give us feedback on where we need to improve and how to use words and phrases to make writing pieces interesting and unique. Constructive criticism helps us to sharpen our skills and to showcase our best versions.

Just connect with other writers on LinkedIn. Ask them for a 30-minute chat. Most will say yes. Have a list of questions to ask them. 1. What's your day-to-day work 2. What do you like the most about writing 3. What's the most difficult part 4. Is it a sustainable career 5. What does $$ look like? If I had to go back in time and correct a mistake, it'd be this. Just ask others and you'll know.

Easiest way to do Market Research: Create a Substack newsletter. Publish your writing there. You'll get feedback from other writers. And surround yourself with good writers. And you can improve your writing faster than if you wrote in isolation. Let others help improve your writing instead of writing only what's popular.

It's proof of an artist's or writer's abilities and showcases their talents.

Half of the time, a portfolio is just a formality. Write 3 good articles and share them with the prospect. In most cases, you'll be given a pilot test. Do your best there and you'll bag a deal.

You need to set realistic expectations in order to overcome any doubts. This is so that you wouldn't be disappointed when you don't get what you want. You should realise that you wouldn't be successful overnight. You need to work hard for quite some time in order to be able to be seen and recognised by other people. You need to also know that you might not always get what you want. You might not get the salary that you want as the market might not be good everytime.
