The COVID-19 era presented unique obstacles, particularly for individuals who relied on lip reading. Masks not only filtered sound levels, but they also masked important visual cues. However, the emergence of online meetings and classes with webcams provided a silver lining during this time. AI-powered video platforms offered volume adjustments and lip reading, allowing persons like myself to fully participate in the learning process despite the limitations posed by the pandemic. Subtitles in lectures have increased my educational experience.
