How can you help your R&D team stay connected and resilient remotely?

In my opinion, R&D team members should have different rules than other human resources of the company. An environment should be created so that they are calm and not in the strict framework of the presence and absence of other human resources. Instead, they think of ideas when other people in the company are taking a break at home or weekend.

If R&D team need to work remotely, to ensure the whole team are stay connected and resilient, should consider 4 points: 1. First and for most, choosing the right team members. With enthusiasm and responsible person, no matter where they work, they still try to work their best. 2. Finalize mutual communication tools such as frequent virtual meetings, calls, and consider periodic in-person gatherings to enhance team connection. 3. Enjoy each small success steps together => this can strengthen team member relationship much. 4. Work life balance and also not forget about team member well-being, mental health.

In my experience leading a global team during the pandemic, we turned to virtual gatherings to have informal discussions and getting to know each other. Whether it was sharing a meal over UberEats or a virtual happy hour, it led to meaningful interactions. After the pandemic, we continue to have Coffee Talks, where we join together over Teams with video to break into small groups to go through ice breakers/discussion topics, so that we can continue the spirit of these interactions.

Building trust in remote R&D teams is crucial for efficiency and creativity. Establish trust by demonstrating respect, empathy, and appreciation, coupled with honesty, reliability, and accountability. Strengthen rapport through social interactions like virtual coffee breaks, team-building activities, or fun quizzes. These not only foster camaraderie but also offer insights into team members' interests, strengths, and challenges, creating a sense of belonging. Such an environment nurtures trust and enhances teamwork, essential for successful remote collaboration.

R&D of any organisation is future of the company.To execute R&D from remote needs strong /over communication.The regular write of the experiment and timely communication with plant will keep remote R&D in high spirit. Each R&D member need to get updated with literature and guide to apply to the project.Recognition of the team for their valuable contribution is necessary.
