I think social media is best used to prove that you have knowledge and expertise. Use your voice to share your perspective on relevant news stories, or pull back the curtain to show people what it's like to work in your industry. This is the kind of content that is truly valuable.

My general rule of thumb is to update my profile once a quarter, to highlight new projects I've worked on and new skills and experiences I've gained, and to double check that nothing is outdated. Much more attractive. What can you add? I promise you that if you are passionate about something, you have something worth saying. Find what makes you unique, and then write away! Give more than you take: Good content can often inspire discussion. Invite others to challenge you or contribute their narratives! Debate is good!

When you want to start building/growing your audience, posting consistently is key. How can you stay consistent when you have a busy schedule? 📅 Create a calendar of key upcoming moments when you would like to post, e.g. relevant international/social media holidays. ⏰ Schedule posts using the LinkedIn scheduler or use a social media management site to schedule posts across your various channels. 👩💻 Block off time each week when you will focus on writing posts and engaging with others' content. ✅ Develop your own template(s) based on what works well. Long-form storytelling text posts? Canva carousels with 5 top tips? Write with your target audience in mind and create content you would like to engage with!

Creating a personal social media brand can definitely land you a job—because it's showing your expertise. Be sure you're: - Creating original content or takes on industry news - Creating different assets, such as carousels, videos, blog posts, etc - Highlighting the sought-after skills you've developed through that content By creating such diverse and valuable content, future employers can see just how much of an expert you are in the field. Not only can this land you the role (or even have recruiters reach out to you for a new one), but it can help in salary negotiations. If you have original insights and are resonating within the community, you're likely able to negotiate the higher end of a job pay scale or even better benefits.
