My voice has the ability to draw closely or repel. Voice tones amongst a variety of people can also be misleading, in the sense that I think I'm coming across warm and inviting, and another can interpret it in a completely different manner, even flirtatious! High pitches in a working environment irritates the hell out of people. Loud is not powerful, rather annoying. Working on one's voice needs willingness, openness and practice. It's a wonderful tool!!

We are quite simply judged by our voice and our energy signature. How you breathe is a major factor in both. Do you understand the effect you are having on others? Are you present and grounded in your body? Does your voice reflect that? What is your Vagal response when under stress or when you are ‘on the spot’? There are simple, reliable tools to use in all of these situations. Where are your growing edges, where could you use some coaching?

Clear articulation is crucial when communicating as an executive. Vocal coaching can teach you to enunciate words clearly and use pauses effectively, making your speech more understandable and impactful. This is particularly important when discussing complex topics or when English is not your first language. A vocal coach can identify any speech habits that may detract from your message and provide targeted exercises to overcome them, ensuring that your articulation aids rather than hinders your career progression.
Connecting emotionally with your audience can make a significant difference in how your message is received. Vocal coaching helps you use your voice to convey the appropriate emotions, whether it's passion for a project or empathy during a restructuring. By learning to adjust the emotional tone of your voice, you can better connect with listeners, making them more receptive to your ideas. This skill is invaluable during career transitions, as it helps you build rapport and trust with new teams and stakeholders.

Persuasive speaking is a key skill for executives, especially when transitioning into new roles where you need to influence others. Vocal coaching can enhance your ability to persuade by teaching you vocal techniques that emphasize key points and create a dynamic range in your speaking style. This can be particularly useful when pitching new ideas or leading change initiatives. By mastering persuasive speaking, you can more effectively sell your vision and motivate those around you.

When speaking, there are three primary locations we speak from: 1. the normal conversational focus, 2. one that sounds prepared, which the listeners automatically distrust as having an ulterior message, 3. one that inspires trust. When you understand and speak from these locations, you can avoid #2, and use #1 and #3 appropriately. Learning what is important in each sentence, each paragraph, and each larger point, helps break up repetitive speech patterns and keeps your listeners focused. Understanding your own energy, their energy, and how breath can keep your body and voice from locking up on you puts you in charge of the room.
Career transitions can be stressful, and stress often manifests in your voice. Vocal coaching can provide strategies for managing stress and maintaining a calm, steady voice even under pressure. Techniques such as breath control and vocal exercises can help you stay composed during challenging conversations or high-stakes negotiations. By keeping your voice steady, you project assurance and control, which reinforces your leadership capabilities in the eyes of colleagues and superiors.
Vocal coaching isn't just about making immediate changes; it's about continuous improvement and adaptation. As your career evolves, so will your communication needs. Regular sessions with a vocal coach can help you refine your speaking skills over time, ensuring that your voice keeps up with the demands of new roles and responsibilities. This commitment to ongoing development can give you an edge in the competitive executive landscape, demonstrating that you're dedicated to excellence in all aspects of leadership.
