Resources are available and built into phones such as iPhones having a notes section under contacts. Always jot down where and when you meet and ONE common thread you had so when you contact them in the future you have a point of reference. You can carry paper business cards. You can use a QRCode. You can create digital business card. You can have a piece of merchandise that has you contract info on it. If you are hosting, you can have digital check in or written. Either way there should be thank yous. What better way to reconnect than to thank them and get feedback. It’s a foot in the door.

When I first started out in business I would say and do almost anything to impress my boss, clients and extended network, being very selective in conversations and careful to tell them what I thought they wanted to hear. Looking back it's quite painful because as my career developed it's become more and more obvious to me that people value authenticity more than almost anything else.
