Here's how you can manage feedback and revisions effectively within a tight deadline.

Start by prioritizing and analyzing your work and the availability of time. If the time is tight, communicate about the idea of a possible extension. If the time is apt, all you need is great organization and focus. Try and systematically address all the feedback, so you never miss out on anything important. Do not hurry as it will only lead to imprecise output. Instead, focus on finding ways that will get you more work done in less time. You can also seek help from others concerning strict time-bound deliveries. Nothing is impossible. You just need to get it done.

The most important thing is to be factually accurate. That’s first. Then basic stuff. Spelling. Punctuation. Word choices. Watch out for words that look or sound the similar but don’t mean what you’re saying. Then the order of the communication. Is everything leading to the right conclusion. Finally, line by line edits.

Focus on the most critical feedback first. This helps you address the most important changes quickly and ensures that the core issues are resolved within the deadline.

Begin with the end in mind. So, Have an objective. Build your outline framework. Fill in a more detailed outline (sometimes as detailed as sentence by sentence or paragraph by paragraph). Find or create good anecdote examples and build them into your outline. Have a draft of your beginning and end as bridge piers.

Break down the revisions into manageable tasks and create a checklist. This keeps you on track and ensures that you tackle each piece of feedback systematically and efficiently. Not a single will be miss!

Have editing guides. What are you looking for on each pass? Stay in your lane. Make each edit pass deal with its issues. It’s like various fineness of sandpaper.

Use shortcuts and tools to streamline the editing process. This helps you make revisions quickly without sacrificing quality, ensuring you meet the deadline with polished work.

If you are working for a client, indicate the number of edits allowed upfront to help them optimize the feedback loop by giving you consolidated comments rather than drip-drip comments.

Keep in touch with your client or team to clarify any confusing feedback. This avoids misunderstandings and ensures you’re making the right changes, saving time and effort.

Although it says to avoid multitasking here, often I find that I need an answer before I can continue, so I move on to the next project. BUT, I have a list of things that need to be changed, and check off each one as I do it, so that when I go back to the project I can pick up where I left off.
