Conquering resistance to new technology in the projects can be challenging, however its achievable with the right approach. with my experience few strategies to help you navigate and overcome resistance; 1)Lead by Example, Demonstrate your own proficiency and enthusiasm for the new technology. When team members see leaders embracing and effectively using the technology, they are more likely to follow suit. 2)Create a Supportive Culture 3)More importantly, Communicate the Benefits Clearly articulate how the new technology will benefit the project, team, and organization. Focus on improvements in efficiency, productivity, cost savings, quality enhancements. Use concrete examples and case studies if possible.

Begin by clearly communicating the benefits and necessity of the new technology to all stakeholders, emphasizing how it will improve their work. Engage employees early in the process, involving them in decision-making to foster a sense of ownership. Provide comprehensive training and support to ensure everyone feels confident using the new technology. Address concerns and feedback promptly, showing empathy and understanding. Highlight early successes and quick wins to build momentum and demonstrate value. Establish clear, achievable goals and offer incentives for adoption. By fostering a positive, inclusive environment and demonstrating ongoing support, resistance can be minimized, ensuring smoother implementation.

Why is the most important question to deal with and we need to make sure that it triggers further questions which can eventually make sure the person making the resistance to the new technology atleast wants to give it a try and focus up the upside. As the person can bring a lot of downsides in his defence for the technology

Every person in the team has a different pattern for being convinced. As the project manager, it is your primary duty to present the new technology in a way that resonates with each member. The initial goal isn’t necessarily to have everyone on board immediately but to make them excited about the new technology. Learning the art of convincing "just enough" can take you a long way. For example, instead of saying, "Using SQL as the backend for this design would be effective in X, Y, Z ways," start by convincing them that you need a tool with features like X, Y, and Z. Once they are convinced of the need for such features, you can introduce the tool: "So, there is this tool called SQL which has all these features."

Clear communication can eliminate the ambiguity teams have towards new technology and tools. Along with that you could also lead by example. Once the team gets to know how the technology and tools are used, they will start accepting it.

Communication plays an important role. Clearly articulate how the new technology will benefit the project and each team member personally. Highlight improvements in efficiency, ease of use, or potential for professional growth.

Communication of the benefits will not help, we may also need to show the benefits to the person. Above all make the person do the activity to see the benefits by himself and be associated well with the benefits. Just mentioning the benefits doesn't help as it just like selling a product with a brochure with a person deciding later if he/she wants to buy later.

For the person to see the benefits and do the task training will be needed so that the person is well equipped with all the details of how the technology works, what are the various errors the person can fall in to as the person can easily create that a reason to not follow the technology.

When I think of 'Training,' I see 'Technology Literacy.' Especially with technologies that have been through multiple versions, there are many features that one person—namely you—cannot possibly have all at the forefront of their mind. Therefore, proper training is essential for your team. This can be achieved by upskilling yourself and then offering a set of training sessions or providing external support to channel their excitement into education. This approach fosters critical thinking about how they can use this new technology differently and effectively in their existing projects, creating a win-win situation. For example, initiating a hands-on workshop session can kickstart their interest in taking the assigned training.

Conquering resistance to new technology in projects involves actively involving key players from the start. Pilot a project where the person who is resisting the new technology should be made responsible to lead and make sure that works with the team to execute the project. This way people with issues will reach out to the lead and although he/she may be avoiding the technology but still will get close to help resolve the concern which will make the person more adaptable to the technology.

En mi experiencia ha sido fundamental trabajar en la gestion del manejo del cambio y de los riesgos que involucra el uso de nuevas tecnologias en los proyectos. Ambas gestiones permiten de una forma sistematica, identificar los riesgos, analizarlos, jerarquizarlos, responder, seguir y controlar los riesgos. Respecto al cambio; como sera la planificacion, implementacion y el mantenimiento del mismo.

The other consideration is we have to be very diligent to give all support this person would need as they might just move in the negative direction as well which can cause the efforts to help him/her to learn the new technology go in vain. Support, communication and a close follow-up would be the key for the development of this person.
