Being assertive should also not be confused with being arrogant, there is a major difference and it pays to think about this before you go around ‘saying it how it is’ all the time. Assertiveness is the ability to be informed and decisive. A way to develop assertiveness is through preparation. Another aspect of assertiveness which is often not considered a part of this trait is vulnerability. Being quick to admit fault, weakness and lack of knowledge and/or expertise is also assertive. ‘Asserting’ your reality, rather than ‘faking it til You make it’ and other such ‘hustle culture’ nonsense.
