Problem solving is what makes the job enjoyable and more attractive then retail, customer service, sales, and food service that I really hate working in.

I am already a life long learner, so this is not much of a factor for me. It would cause me anxiety if I only focus on this field though.

I take side gigs as much as possible. Building Gaming PCs for friends, repairing old laptops. Anything you can do to get your hands on more PC hardware will set you up for faster repairs, and better knowledge. Plus you can make some money on side ;)

In my years so far in this field, it doesn't seem to be a Career. It is a job and if you are unfortunately promoted to leadership/manager roles your abilities as a tech will diminish. For some one like myself that is not appealing even if you get paid more. That is what I have seen so far and experienced. I am also not very smart so take what I say with a grain of salt. I am good at solving for finding the fix for technical issues. Not with leading people or management.
