That dark spot in your kitchen is about to get lit.

Customizable lighting is a fun GE Lighting trick that it's been working on for a while now, and with this partnership with SmartThings and the adoption of Matter, it's expanding a little more.

SmartThings announced a collaboration with GE Lighting in a press release sent to Lifewire. The partnership will extend SmartThings capabilities to Cync's new reveal undercabinet kitchen lighting fixtures, which offer customizable colors, schedules, and more. The new fixtures come in four sizes: 12-, 18-, and 24-inch bars, as well as puck lights. Additional SmartThings-compatible Cync smart home products are also in the works, including devices like smart bulbs, plugs, and light strips.

According to the GE Lighting website, the lights (which were released in June) are designed to reduce glare on countertops and are "slimmer than traditional fixtures." You can also connect up to 10 lights for a complete lighting solution that includes the ability to change the color of the lights and to set a schedule for when the lights come on or go off automatically.

The Cync app lets you control the lights even when you're not home, but you can also use them with SmartThings, or they will work with your chosen voice assistant, whether that's Apple Siri, Amazon Alexa, or Google Assistant. You won't need a hub to use them, either, which is a nice draw for many people.

The lights also offer both hard-wired and plug-in options and can be installed using tools you probably already have at home.

You can order the GE Cync reveal Smart LED Undercabinet lights through Amazon, Best Buy, Home Depot, and other retailers. Pricing starts at $55 for the lightbars and $85 for the puck lights.
