Communities of Practice are free to join. Programming for each of the communities is designed to create space for peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, mentorship, coaching, and grantmaking.

The News Philanthropy Network is designed to support and build capacity for fundraising and development professionals in journalism through workshops, coaching, and peer-to-peer learning. It is open to all fundraising professionals.
The Audience Community of Practice provides support for audience development news professionals who are at the forefront of deepening relationships and expanding the reach of their journalism. The Community is open to all audience development professionals.
The Statewide News Collective supports the exchange of expertise and other collaborations among a growing group of independent statewide news organizations. Its membership currently includes 35 publishers representing 29 states.
Statewide publishers interested in joining the Statewide News Collective are invited to fill out the interest form and can email [email protected] with any questions.
Engaged Cities is a community of practice for news organizations with engagement-first approaches to serving U.S. cities.
The highly collaborative group works together to tackle common challenges, share innovative approaches, and serve as a sounding board for peers. This community is a curated, limited-invitation group for publishers that meet the following criteria:
• Independent, digitally focused news organizations that have already launched (all business models welcome)
• Primary audience and coverage area is a city in the United States
• An engagement-first approach and have demonstrated an innovative, collaborative spirit through their work
• Primary participants have senior-level roles and buy-in from top leadership
• Participants are willing to share actively and maintain confidentiality in the spirit of mutual benefit
