Basketball Networking event - 23 May 2024, Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Students at Loughborough University London gathered together this week with LU LDN alum and external businesses looking to network through alternative means – Basketball!

The Future Space team, working together with LU LDN’s student experience team and our student led coaching and volunteering association, organised  this alternative networking event at the Olympic Park’s iconic Copper Box Arena, just a stones throw from our London campus.

A group of around 25 students engaged in inclusive team sports, in a good old ‘winner stays on’ format, and were joined by alum and representatives from Team Sportz, IMG, Epsilon, Granite BPO and PulseLive and played for just over an hour and a half, connecting through sport, teamwork and social interactions.

LU LDN student and lead of London’s CVA (Coaching and Volunteering Association), Viktoria Jeremies said

"The event last night combined networking and basketball, which provided a unique blend of athletic competition and professional relationship building, where the court became a platform for forging connections and fostering teamwork. The students all enjoyed engaging in friendly competition while meeting new people."

Feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive from all involved and something the Future Space team will look to revisit in the future. If you are alum or representing an organisation looking to network with our wonderful emerging talent, and would like to get involved in future events, why not drop us an email FutureSpace@lboro.ac.uk
