Dan Maurer

Dan Maurer is an Army lieutenant colonel and judge advocate, transitioning from professor of national security law at the Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School into retirement status this summer. He will begin teaching at Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law in August. Dan is also an adviser to the Center for Military Law and Policy at Texas Tech University School of Law, is the author of “Crisis, Agency, and Law in US Civil-Military Relations,” co-editor of “Reconsidering American Civil-Military Relations,” and the author of several law review articles on military justice and the law of war, including “Sovereign, Employer, Community: A Theory of Military Justice Beyond Discipline, Obedience, and Efficiency” and “Meta-Law of Armed Conflict Principles.” The opinions in his articles are unofficial and do not represent the positions of any part of the U.S. Department of Defense.
