A devastated mother says she has been left 'heartbroken' after the bodies of her son and his dad were found in the Scottish countryside.

Tom Parry, 49, and 12-year-old Richie Parry, from Alsager in Cheshire, has been missing since Wednesday (May 29). The pair failed to return home from a trip north of the border.

They are believed to have visited Glen Nevis before heading to Glencoe. Their vehicle was found in the Three Sisters car park where they stopped on Tuesday

A major search involving several groups of volunteers from Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team was started but Police Scotland sadly confirmed on Thursday morning the bodies believed to be the missing males had been found.

They are yet to be formally identified but Tom and Richie's family have been made aware. However speaking at the family home, Gemma Parry told the Daily Mail: "I've not heard anything more," before adding: "I'm doing the best I can. I'm heartbroken"

"In your holy name we pray. Amen."

Richie played for Under 13s football club AFC Alsager. The team said they were deeply concerned when they heard about their disappearance. A statement read: "Our thoughts are with their family and friends."

Enquiries are ongoing into what happened to Tom and Richie, but there are no apparent suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

Inspector Craig Johnstone said: "Two bodies found following search in Glencoe. They are yet to be formally identified. However, the family of father and son Tom Parry, 49, and Richie Parry, 12, from Cheshire, who had been reported missing in the area, have been made aware. Our thoughts are with all those involved.

"I would like to thank all emergency services and Mountain Rescue volunteers."

Glencoe has claimed several lives in the past year - including experienced guides and walkers. We previously told that three people, including experienced mountain glider Dave Fowler tragically fell to their death in August 2023. Dave, 39, was leading two people on a trek on Aonach Eagach when they got into difficulty.

Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team volunteers reached the trio, who are understood to have been roped together, but due to darkness and the mountainous terrain, the rescuers had to return in daylight to resume the tragic recovery mission.
