Police have launched an urgent appeal after a man was 'kicked multiple times to the head' in a sickening town centre attack.

Lancashire Constabulary said the incident happened on Church Street in Accrington at around 10.30pm on Saturday (July 6). Officers now want to check on the welfare of the victim, who they believe is called Daniel.

The force stressed that 'he is the victim of the assault' and 'is not a suspect in any part of this investigation'. No arrests have been made and anyone with information or who witnesses the attack is asked to contact police.

In a statement, Hyndburn Police said: "We are asking for your help to identify a man who was the victim of an assault on Church Street, Accrington Town Centre yesterday (6th July) at around 10:30pm. He was kicked multiple times to the head and we want to check on his welfare.

"We believe he is called Daniel. He is the victim of the assault, he is not a suspect in any part of this investigation.
