'Severe delays' are being reported on the M6 near Preston following a collision.

Traffic was temporarily held on the southbound carriageway between J32 for the M55 and Broughton Interchange and the J31A for Longridge. Three lanes remain closed and traffic monitoring service Inrix reports three miles of congestion in the area.

They said: "Three lanes closed and queueing traffic for three miles due to accident on M6 Southbound from J32 M55 (Broughton Interchange) to J31A B6242 Bluebell Way (Longridge). Travel time is around 25 minutes.

"Traffic was briefly held, after which lanes two, three and four (of four) remain closed."

Inrix now reports that all lanes have reopened.

They said:

Slow traffic due to earlier accident on M6 Southbound from J32 M55 (Broughton Interchange) to J31A B6242 Bluebell Way (Longridge).

All lanes have been re-opened.
