Local and federal authorities are investigating after a bomb threat was made toward a bank in downtown Libertyville Wednesday morning, police said.

The Libertyville Police Department responded around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday to the BMO Harris Bank, 354 North Milwaukee Avenue.

Libertyville Police Department Sgt. Dusan Racic said a bomb threat was made via telephone toward the bank.

Staff members evacuated the bank prior to the arrival of the police department.

The bomb threat was ultimately determined not credible, Racic said.

BMO Harris Bank eventually returned to normal operations after police cleared the building.

Racic said the investigation remains ongoing with the assistance of federal agencies.

Police have not released further information on the case, including whether they have identified any suspects.
